Sited within Australia's mainland Northern Territory (NT), Alice Springs Airport (ASP) lies to the south of the Colonel Road Drive, east of the Old South Road, and next to the Roger Vale Drive. Just 15 km / 9 miles south of the Alice Springs township, the airport features a total of three runways, the biggest of which is able to handle large Boeing aircraft.
Alice Springs Airport accommodates mainly domestic flights, with the main airlines including Air South Charter, Airlink, Qantas and Tiger Airways Australia. The airport encompasses around 3,500 acres / 1,415 hectares in total, and features regular helicopter traffic, two terminals (Airside and Landside), nine different parking stands for planes and further spaces for up to 70 aircraft.
Darwin lies to the north of Alice Springs Airport, while Adelaide can be found directly south, both of which are around two hours away by jet-powered aircraft. The airport operates 24 hours a day and is amongst the only airports in the whole of Australia to feature curfew-free air services.
